Troy Starts a New Job

So, Troy is starting his 3rd week in his new job as the rehab director of a long-term care facility. While he is a little stressed right now, with trying to get everything in place and seeing enough patients, it is nice to have him so close to home and the hours are flexible. I think it's just going to take some time to adjust to all the changes. Aidan and I are really proud of him because he is trying hard to make a difference, and we know he will be awesome at this job.

The Perfect Score

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Aidan found out the other day that she made a perfect score 100% on the TAKS Test. We are so very proud of her, and she is proud of herself too! The principal sent her a special post card congratulating her on her acheivement, which made her very happy. After everything Aidan has been through in 3rd grade, this was a nice reward for all her hard work! Awesome!

Spring Break 2009

This year we stayed in town for Spring Break. Troy took a couple of days off before starting his new job as the Rehab Director at a local long-term care center. We went to the movies and saw Coraline, which was pretty dark but really good. Aidan loved that we were the only people in the theater. She and Troy were running around the theater and we had a lot of fun laughing and talking loudly to each other. We also decided to start hiking on Sundays. This was Troy's idea and it has been great. We did our longest hike this past Sunday...6 miles!!! We didn't really mean to go that far, but the trail map was pretty vague. It was fun and exhausting and Aidan was such a trooper. She found a couple of fossils and, what we think is, a coyote skull.

Grading-March 2009

We had our grading today for Tae Kwon Do. Aidan earned her Blue-Stripe Belt, and I earned my Green Belt. As always, it was a long day, but it's exciting to move up with everyone. Aidan did a great job with her patterns, broke her board on her 1st try, and was aggressive sparring her nemesis, Erica. It was a good end to Spring Break.

A Win for the Broncos

This past weekend Aidan had her first soccer game of the season and we WON!!! After not winning a single game last season with all but 4 new players, the girls got a win. We were so proud of everyone. Maddie took home MVP for her 2 scores, but more importantly her willingness to PASS the ball. She really made an effort to be a good teammate and it payed off. Aidan had 2 shots on goal, with one just missing the corner. Everyone hustled and played their positions so Troy and I were just ecstatic! Final Score...Broncos 3, Santo 0

Musical Theater Performance

PhotobucketPhotobucket
So, Aidan has been taking musical theater classes at the local theater company. She really loves it and looks forward to going every Thursday afternoon. On Friday, they had their recital and she did such an awesome job. Her class had 2 numbers to perform. The first is a song from the Broadway Musical, Wicked. The second is a song from the Disney Movie, Newsies. Aidan really got into character and had a great time....she had a solo part in the Newsies number and she did great!

Aidan brought home her report card the other day and again....STRAIGHT A'S!!! This was a tough grading period because they have been preparing for the TAKS Test. Lots of stress. Reading TAKS was March 3rd, and we are so glad it's over. She has to take the Math TAKS next month, but there is less riding on this one since the kids don't have to pass the math test to pass 3rd grade...unlike the reading test. Anyway, we are just so proud that she has kept her grades up despite having periods of unhappiness at school. Great Job, Baby Girl! We love you!

Tae Kwon Do Tournament

Last Saturday, February 28, 2009, we spent the day competing in the latest Tae Kwon Do Tournament. Aidan did such a great job winning 2nd place in forms/patterns and
2nd place in sparring. The kids that won were 3 belts higher than her, but she did not give up and gave it her all. We are so very proud of her. It was a long day, but it's great experience sparring people you don't know. Plus, when we got home we found out that Tegra had been found, so all in all, it was an awesome day.

Homeward Bound

Photobucket
Well, she went on quite an adventure, but Tegra is home!!! Thanks to the Cribbs of Georgetown, TX. On Saturday while we were in Brenham for a TaeKwonDo Tournament, Tegra was noticed on the west shoulder of I-35W, about 4 miles south of our exit, by a retired couple traveling home to Austin. By the time they had exited and turned their RV around, Tegra was in the median of the highway. Yikes! They had to lure her with a steak onto the RV, where they proceeded to try and locate us for an hour before heading back home. Since Tegra's tag only had my cell phone number on it, and we were in the boonies with no signal, they left me a message and finally headed back to their home with Tegra in tow. Mrs. Cribbs said she slept the entire 2+ hour trip. When they got home, Mrs. Cribbs got on the internet trying to locate us from the information on my message, which only says AGA Appraisals. We got home Saturday night around 7pm, and at 8pm our home phone rang and on the other end was a sweet lady saying that she had our Tegra. We had to drive to Georgetown the next morning and sure enough there was our old girl, tail tucked, skinny, not feeling well, but alive! We cannot thank the Cribbs enough for doing everything they did to rescue Tegra...not many people would take the time and effort that they did and we are so grateful. Well, 2 days later, she's been to the vet, who says she looks okay, and to the groomer for a nice bath and flea dip. She is sleeping a lot because we upped her arthritis medication and her food intake. We take her on very short walks every few hours and she's really doing great. We don't know how much more time we'll have with her, so we've just decided to spoil her as much as we can for the rest of her days. We're just so relieved to have her back. It seems everyone has their own personal connection with Tegra. Thank you for your concern and for all your prayers. Photobucket
Yea! Tegra is home!
