April 2011

Here is our April....we've had a few scary storms this Spring. We spent a few of them in our closet and there's a good chance we need a new roof after one storm ripped through Grandview downing trees, metal buildings, powerlines, and the roof of the library. My nephew, Jacob...aka "Weatherman Gann", loves watching footage of tornadoes on YouTube. Here is Jake's song...we all sing this in our house whenever the weather man mentions Tornado. Anyway, the month of April was filled with storms, Aidan's TAKS tests and jump rope competition, Cooper eating solids, my brother, Jeremy's 34th birthday (Happy Birthday, Terd), and Easter!
April 11th, Torndadoes rip though Grandview, TX

Granny and Uncle Jimmy-Written May 23, 2011

Today is the anniversary of the passing of two important people in my life. One year ago today, my uncle Jimmy passed away. Part of Cooper's middle name is in honor of Jimmy (James). He always made me laugh and I wish I had one more day to let him know that no matter what I always loved him.
Ba-tee!
Today is also the 11th anniversary of my Granny's passing. Like Cooper, part of Aidan's middle name is in honor of Patsy Jewel. My heart still hurts for missing her and so often I wish whole-heartedly that she was still here. I can still hear her voice calling me "Mandy". I could never get enough of spending time with her and I am so thankful for the conversation we had 2 weeks before she died. She taught me what it felt like to be unconditionally loved with her genuine affection and amazing ways. She was the epitomy of a grandmother and there will never be another like her! I love you, Granny!

Aidan Qualifies for USA Jump Rope Nationals!!!

So, some of you know that Aidan has done competitive jump rope on and off since 1st grade. Well, this was her first year back and on Saturday, April 9th, she competed in the USA Jump Rope Region 5 Regional Competition. She ended up qualifying for NATIONALS in double dutch freestyle and double dutch freestyle pairs. We're so proud of her! We will be making the trip to Galveston for Nationals at the end of June! Go ZZ Skippers!!!

Spring Break 2011

Spring Break started off with our Houston trip for Aidan to test for Black Belt. A few days later, I talked to Lisa (my aunt, for those who don't know), and we decided to make a last-minute trip up to Kansas to see her and the kids. John was on an away trip with Sporting KC....we were sorry that we missed him, but we did get to watch the game on t.v. and they showed several shots of John coaching on the sideline (very cool!). We had a great time with the kids and they loved all over Cooper (it was their first time to see him). Aidan had a great time with everyone and as usual, I enjoyed lots of talks with Lisa.

Look Out....She's A BLACK BELT!!!

March 12, 2011 is the day Aidan earned her 1st Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. We could not be more proud of all her hard work and dedication. Of the 20 students that began when she did, 3 (including Aidan) earned their black belt. Needless to say, it is not an easy task! We headed down to Houston to Master Park's school for her to test in front of the Unified Masters. She was flawless! Great job, babe!

Girl loves to stay in a hotel!
